Guys I am having a few issues with my mouse. It randomly switches off and on while I am using my laptop - its an Alienware TacTX.
Its as if the power is cut off every 30 secs, the lights go out and then it reconnects. Sometimes I hear the sound windows makes when a new USB is plugged in. I've updated the drivers, disabled power saving on USB devices and even upgraded my BIOS to A10. No joy![]()
Can anyone help?

Are sure its not a loose connection? I had Tactx mouse and it suffered the same fate.
On another note, it has a 1 year warranty so ring Dell and get a new one. -
had the exact same thing with my razer naga epic.
ended up being the cable. got a new one mailed to me from razer. -
Try a different USB port on the computer? Or try it on another computer?
If it works on another USB port or another computer, it may be something with your USB port or computer.
If it acts the same way on another USB port or another computer, probably a bad mouse. -
Update
Ive tried it on a different USB port on my M17X and its still the same issue. Also all the other devices connected by USB are working fine (cooling tray, headset & flash drive). I've also been using the mouse with my work PC for the last few days and it hasn't stalled once.
I'm guessing it has something to do with BF3? It only seems to happen while I'm playing that game........ although it still occurs when I close the game and begin using the laptop for general browsing etc -
That is wierd, do you have another mouse handy to test on BF3?

The exact same thing happened to my Alienware TactX mouse back in December 2011, it kept cutting out, the lights on it were flashing, and within a few days of it doing that, it stopped turning on and was completely dead.
When this happened it was only 2-3 weeks after its 1 year warranty ran out (if it even has one, I couldn't find any info of a warranty).
I think mine was a problem in the wire right where it comes out of the mouse, because when I had it in a certain position it would stay on, but as soon as I moved it, then it cut out.
In the end I had to get a new mouse since Alienware/Dell didn't want to replace it, so I bought a Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse (comes with a 3 year warranty), and I love it just as much as my TactX mouse -
I have also had tactx problems which included bsod and non responsive usb ports, using razer deathadder at the moment and having no problems
Otherwise was really happy with it.
Weird Mouse Issue ?
