Weird problem with M17x r3 in starcraft

I have had my r3 since January, and I been pretty happy with my purchase. However, I noticed recently that I am getting some weird problems while playing starcraft. For example, the blue field from the polyn does not show up all the time. Little graphical errors like that. I have been looking for solutions online but was unsuccessful. Does anyyone else have this problem? Better yet, does anyone have a solution?

I have 6870, 2630, upgraded screen (60hz), wifi upgrade.

I would ask if have you updated your drivers for graphics card? the most stable ones are 11.4 (or 11.5 installed ON TOP OF 11.4)
secondly, I don't think you experience same trouble in other games, do you? if this is the case and your game copy is legal you might as well call blizzard (email them) whichever works for ya and ask for support because ultimately its their product not working on your laptop.

 

I updated the driver through dell's support driver and downloads page.
But I am not too sure how to update ATI cards...
I just installed the catalyst control center...but im not too sure ><

I do not really experience problems in other games. Thanks for the idea! I never thought about emailing Blizzard.

I also had some problems with starcraft 2 when I had the R2 with 5870. The cursor would be messed up and would remain that way after I exit the game.

So I was thinking maybe it was ATI cards or something like that.

 

The cursor issue is a GPU glitch, from what I've heard. I've had the same issue on the R3, where it looks like a miniature sheet of notebookpaper for my cursor. This was while I was on my desktop though---not in games.

 

Dont think theres new drivers for the 6870, I have it as well and cant get off stock drivers.

 

I had that Pylon bug in SC2, but i have the 6970m. To fix it i just upgraded to the 11.5 catalyst drivers

 

my cousin had this problem with his 6870 in an R3. now his screen will randomly artifact or display white screens with a bunch of black vertical lines on it. sometimes it's blue screens with red lines.. dell support had him update drivers, tomorrow we're going to call and see about them replacing the gpu, as well as the mobo since he has the messed up B2 chipset.

(think it's possible to get a free bump to a 6970 in the process? )

I did download the 11.5 catalyst drivers to still having the same problem.
I emailed Blizzard and they basically said update drivers.

Im not sure about contacting dell since, the problem is so specific I am just thinking it's not really worth all that hassle and time trying to explain a pylon problem. But it is annoying though since Im a protoss player lol

 

Sorry to invade this thread but just wondering why update 11.5 on top of 11.4 since 11.5 theoretically should have everything the 11.4 has?

 

When updating ATI drivers from the offline installer its okay to skip releases (ie. jump from 11.3 to 11.5). However make sure you don't remove the 11.3 that's included by default on your R3 otherwise you'll lose switchable graphics.

 

i've tried installing 11.6 drivers over the dell drivers and i still having missing pylon fields in sc2. i really want this to work. how did you go about solving this isssue?
