Hey guys, Hope you are all enjoying your holidays. Previously, I mentioned that my 7970m auto shuts down the OS at 85 degree celcius. Whilst not completely remedied yet, I have managed to significantly lower the temps up till maximum 76 degree after running furmark 1080p 15 min burn in test. It should also be noted that before this, my 7970m could not even survive 7 mintues of the 800x 600 burn in test. Apparently, one of the thicker thermal pads was not transferring heat well enough as a small piece was used. Replacing that thermal pad coupled with changing the 7970m's x-bracket to that of the 6990m then gave me my temp above.

Now, on to my next 2 weird issues that I have been facing since switching back to ATI from my 680m. Ever since i've switched back to ATI and started using 12.11 beta, I've noticed that right before booting into the welcome screen where you type in your password, a clearly visible white line can be seen flashing on the black screen for a split second. I've double checked and reconfirmed again that this does not occur when I completely deleted all the ati drivers. This issue applies only to my 7970m and 6990m tho, havent tested it on my 5870m's as one of it was damaged.

As for the second issue, having switching back and forth between 6990m and 7970m recently, I've noticed that the 7970m only shows the thermal diode and not the other shader temps etc. Is there a workaround for this? Apparently 680m also suffers from the same issue with hwinf032.
