I saw this in the outlet and bought it today with the 25% off sale

How did I do? I'm a little worried, it is refurbished and price seemed low with bluray, 1080 screen and 16 gb ram.

Only thing I added was 1 year accidental coverage

Something just came to my mind that I would like to ask.

If one purchased a refurbished m17x r4 like our OP friend here and it failed within warranty, would Dell offer him a brand new 17" alienware laptop with equivalent if not better specs? I mean would it be harder than compared to someone who purchased a brand new m17x r4 to get a brand new replacement?

I was eyeing that one, but ended up getting one with a 680 instead.

I actually was approved for a new replacement rig today. They wanted to shop around for a refurbished rig with the same or better specs, but I graciously declined. However, from what I was told, if you receive a refurb as a replacement, and still under warranty, you will receive the same EXACT treatment as per your warranty and Dell's policies. Particularly, if something was to happen to your refurb down the road, Dell will either fix the problem(s) (on-site tech or depot) or ship you out another rig with the same or better spec :)

This information came from the escalation department.

When you say "ship out a another rig with the same or better spec" is that for brand new replacement? I would presume a refurbished replacement is what Dell will try to do save money but since you declined it I'm happy to see them listen to your opinion and gave you a brand new model :)

That was for a refurb rig. This is all you need to know: "Outlet systems are refurbished, previously ordered new or scratch and dent".

If they cannot guarantee a "perfect" system, and nor provide you with the support history of a particular system... you MUST decline. I heard far too many horror stories about outlet rigs. I do not want to own a rig that has a history of technical issues, scratches, and/or dents - especially when we bought our systems brand new off the assembly line. However, some refurb rigs may be acceptable by some, and for a number of reasons. For example, some may need their rigs in a timely manner (don't want to wait for a new build) or don't care about the refurb status.
