I got mine today and did a fresh repaste of my GPU and CPU with ICD24. My temps are between 46-53 degress C for the CPU and 55 for the 6970M on idle. Are these normal temps, or did my repaste go wrong?

Yeah that sounds about right and honestly i did not see much of a difference between pasting and factory ..

My GPU idles anywhere from 53-60 just sitting there sometimes it will even creep up a degree or 2 higher.

CPU is pretty much the same even though i am running the 2720.

cpu's should be the same since they have the same TDP.

I noticed a difference in my repaste. My gpu temps never hit in the 80's anymore. High to mid 70's, even when overclocking.

i just got a new GPU and heatsink and left everything stock including the paste etc and having repasted the old one a few times i cant say i ever saw much of a difference maybe a couple degrees give or take.

Usually i am fanatical about pasting but i just did not see the results on this GPU so this time around i just left it stock on the replacement.

Everyone always sees different results as far as i am concerned so i just go by what i see and not what others say.

I have done countless repaste for my CPU & GPU using MX-3,with various methods, but temps always turn out the same,CPU 48-50+,GPU 57-60+ degrees.I manage to knock down a significant amount of degrees when repasting for my M15x,so I know i am doing a correct job with my M17xR3.Anyway,have ordered new thermal pads & MX-4 for a few more try before i leave it alone.Still feel weird seeing such high temps on idle....

Yeah thats why when i got my replacement GPU/Heatsink i just said eh why even bother so i even left the stock paste that came on it and the results were the same.

The card runs semi toasty on idle but if i am not playing games i am on the IGP and i just make a habit of it ..

I have been using this machine more on battery then my previous ones since you can squeeze some very nice time out of the battery.

So yeah i just got in the habit of switching to IGP and also accepting the fact the GPU likes to idle warm(er).
