I am wanting to upgrade my GPU, looking at the 6970, should have just got it as an option, but $250 more?!?! really?

Maybe considering Nvidea if my R3 is compatible.

But would first have to sell my Radeon 6870. How likely is it that I could find someone to buy this from me?

Man I am the bearer of bad news today for you my friend :(
You can sell it, but say good bye to your warranty. If you need a replacement Dell wants the original specs back. So, if you sell your card you will lose your warranty.

yah, I would have to do the same with my 4870's (I upgraded to 5870s) that is the only reason I have not sold them. :( Don't want to lose the last two years of my warranty.

So now I would have to spend the full $500 for one rather than like 150/200...

Yup I spent 515 for my 5870's. It's just a matter of how much you want it. def not worth selling you 6870 though as you lose more that way no matter what.

well if you buy the 6970 from dell, then they can add that to your warranty, then you can resell your 6870.

I doubt you would find a buyer for the 6870M anyway, unless someone with the GTX 260M or GT 240M looks for a cheap upgrade.

^^^ thats what I was figuring. Who knows its possible. Only problem is I can get the 6970 for $420 off ebay, but not sure how much of my arm and leg Dell will want for it.

It would be easier to sell your current R3. The Dell outlet has almost maxed out(without SSD) R3's for 1700.00USD.

Yeah, I agree. I bought my R3 with 1080p screen, 2630QM, 4 GB of RAM and a 6970M for $1282 after tax and $250 discount.

That's freaking nuts. The graphics card alone is like $450 O_O

I might buy a second one. Wonder what is causing the price fluctuations so much? The R2 kept its value for a LONG time.

Yeah, but California pulled a little highway robbery on me with sales tax: it was $1179 before tax. :(

I did get lucky though. When I pulled the M17x R3 out of the box, I inspected it and it's brand new. There were no blemishes or marks anywhere on the screen or case, even under intense light. Pretty amazing.
