So my Sony BC-5600S bit the dust (POS) and I am curious what blu ray drives come from dell.
i believe the blu-ray combo drive is the CA10N, but am not sure.
Anyone with the blu ray burner know what model it is?
    Thanks

Same here, CA10N. Are you trying to replace your blu-ray drive in your R3? Why not just claim warranty?

I added a Panasonic UJ135A BDROM to my laptop (came with DVDROM). Works just fine. I had it sitting in my HTPC and never really used it.

Fortunately with drives, so long as they fit, they should work. SATA is SATA for the most part.

I would imagine that was covered in the 'as long as it fits' statement. ;)

A tray drive wouldn't fit, and even if you managed to squeeze it in there, it would technically still 'work', it just wouldnt eject.

Tray load drives are exactly the same form factor as slot load drives minus the bezel which may or may not be included.

Well thanks for the info everyone. I just wanted to see what dell was including with the M17x. I had purchased my laptop without a blu-ray drive as I had a bc-5600s and figured I'd put it in there. Sadly the drive itself didn't last very long. I'll try a CA10N next.
