I am still using my original drivers that came with my R3: 266.08 Batboy mentioned that if they work and no performance issues then leave them alone.

While playing the BF3 alpha an update drivers to 275.33 or higher message came up from EA.

Dell lists the 267.64 as their most current recommended driver.

Anyone notice a difference between these two (266.08 v. 267.64)performance wise?

Some have mod'ed the inf on the 275.50 drivers and the 280.19 beta's are on the the Nvidia website.

Anyone notice any difference between the 267.64 dell drivers and the nVidia 275.50 mod'ed inf drivers?

What is the current wisdom regarding 460m and drivers?

Anytime you upgrade drivers there will be some performance benefits, as well as some drawbacks. I don't have any numbers per say but I have a simple philosophy:

    1) Upgrade if you want to (modded INFs even work as well), but...
    2) If its stable and runs well - don't mess with it :p

I typically stick with the 'if your fav game works great with your current driver, then no need to update'. ;)

As for the 17xR3 w/460, Dell recently released their 580M driver (269.03) -
    Drivers and Downloads

Has anyone tried to install this on the 460?

I've been a bit out of touch with current drivers - how is the 280.19 Beta? Have they finally added the DevIDs so a modded INF is not required?

When I have free time, I'll take a look. In the end, as long as you are satisfied with performance, no reason to really muck around with modding INFs or driver testing. If I recall, the reason I suggested sticking with the original R3 460 driver was due to poor choice selection at the time and problems with 3D compatibility. This may have changed of course. ;)

If you have the 3D screen, you should be able to run the 275.33 driver with the modified INF file.

I'm trying to update to either the 275.33 driver or the beta 280.19 from nvidia, but whenever I try to install it, it can't find the compatible graphics hardware, I'm currently on the base 266.08 provided from dell, would I need to have the modded bios to update to either of the newer drivers.

You do understand the risks of using a bios not supported by Dell right?
    Try this one.

    Thanks all.

The only reason I wanted to upgrade from the base drivers was because the message in BF3 suggested 275.33 or higher.

I hope EA can lean on Dell to upgrade its drivers.

When I saw the 269.03 580 3D drivers from dell, I thought they would be the next best step too and posted a message asking if anyone took the leap but no reply yet BatBoy.

The Alienwear 14" boys do a lot of posting about drivers and inf's with recent chatter about the beta 280.19 fails.

Livid has been good about his experience with the modded 275.50 driver for his 3D 460m and might want to chime in here.

I'm currently using the 280.19 Beta right now and it hasn't crashed once during game play or 3DMark 11 testing. Do I notice an improvement in performance? Let me say this; Stick with the 275.50 or 275.33 drivers.

Good info that, saves a lot of trials for all.

Any downside to the 275.50 drivers once mod'ed?

im currently running the 280 beta drivers with no modded inf :p If you go into the 580 thread and find the link to the Nividia site, (ill post it here) 580m Verde Driver Download? - NVIDIA Forums you will see they fixed the drivers to work with the 580m. I downloaded this driver, http://nvidiaforums.s3.amazonaws.com/dell.zip had a funny error message about the integrated graphics needing an update so i did that, and then the installation went fine. I haven't really had time to test the performance increases but there should be more than a few. :)

Hope this helps out anybody who wants the new Nividia drivers :)

Let us know, cause I am starting to think these 280 beta drivers are going to be something special once they are WQHL next week. This after reading about them on the MX14 and MX18 boards as well as the nVidia forums...

Seems to run Dragon Age at 20fps on ultra high, better than what it used to but i don't have the exact framerate. COD Blackops ran maxed out with the framerate hanging between 50 and 60 fps. I will test more once i get my laptop reformatted, but it might be a while since something is wrong

So whats teh verdict? I too was wondering if the Modded 275/80 drivers were worth the hassel. Ran Witcher 2 on ultra high settings the other day and actually had some chugging for a bit. A slight adjustment and it was fine and i realy counldn't notice the quality difference.

For me the best driver where the 275.33 but the last 280.26 is good too.

I run the Beta 280.26 driver on my R3 and love it (460m 120hz 3d).

Easy to install, 3D works, no issues in game.

I will say that I jump right form the base Dell drivers to the beta ones, so I don't have any information on the performance of the 275.xx drivers.

IMO the beta drivers are fantastic!
