I have the R3 but I'm just curious as to why they are not selling the R2 anymore.

Do we even have a Crossfire/Sli laptop system anymore?

Supposedly, that gap will be filled by the M18x. The m17x R3 is the supposed upgrade/replacement for the M15x.

No. Not unless you get it from the Outlet, or the other usual spots. Alienware no longer actively sells a CF/SLI laptop. The M18x is supposedly coming out sometime. There's no way they're going to let the other laptop manufacturers take their portion of the sales.

So, is the M17x R3 aluminum or not? I thought it was still aluminum with a soft touch coating?

The thing is that you could have an 18" LCD in the same exact chassis. There is a good bit of bezel around the current 17" LCD.

I'll stick to aluminum although aluminium does sound more fancy (firefox throws up a spelling error).

I moved to the States a long long time ago but use to live overseas and went to a private school that was under British system. When I moved to the States and in class I spelled Color as Colours they all looked at me as if I had failed basic English in 1st grade or something and could not colour/color within the lines :D

the R3 has a plastic chassis? i didn't expect that.... one of the reasons i bought the r2 is because i wanted a something durable aswell as performance, unlike the steelcase series =P

but thats good to know, i was considering getting a r3, but i could aswell upgrade this r2, or wait for the 18x

incorrect, the M17x has 3 revisions, R1 R2 R3, like it or not that's how it is, Sli and Xf are beginning to become less and less as single GPU's like the AMD6970 and |Nvidia 485m are pushing performace equal too or better than the last iteration of XF in the R2, i.e. 2x 5870, that is simply how it is, now speculation that an M18x will have dual GPu's is just that - speculation

I understand your situation , but in Canada here , every contractor is using aluminum in their invoice/quote , I know about aluminium too , but seem no one is using this word after all , in my area.

    people/ppl , you/u , why/y , laugh out loud/lol etc :D

I don't understand the tomato part. red tomato -> ?
