What do you suggest people do with their M17x when they first get it? Are there things you should apply to the heat sinks? Programs you should get rid of? Drivers that need updating?
I'd like to make a list for those new buyers out there--myself included.

Always check the Dell site every so often for driver updates but they should be up-to-date when you receive the laptop. -

lol...I'm not like typical M17x users, I don't want to open it up immediately and check heat sinks and stuff. Just want to boot it up, download the latest drivers, then dive right in and have fun with it.

I like to physically inspect it first. Then I'll test all the hardware out. Run tests on the memory, stress the GPU/CPU, run some games, monitor temps, throw in a movie and check the optical drive, ensure crossfire is working. Use CPU-Z and GPU-Z to ensure that whats inside the computer is what your ordered.
Once thats done, I'll install SSD/HDD, swap CPU and RAM, change thermal compound and thermal pads for the CPU and GPUs, than a clean install and personalize it to my preferred settings.
Really though, it's all up to the user. Each person is differant, but this is how I like to test it out. -
