Do I have to update drivers? What else can/should I do before using my comp?

    make love to it.lol

    no just joking.

I think it will depend on what your goal is with your m17x R3.

if you want to obtain maximum performance then yeah you will want to update drivers. people may direct you to the time consuming process of clean windows install which can be found in this forum.

depending on what type of hard drives and RAM you have configured with your laptop also would determine your first step. if its base on both then upgrade them(I am saving up for a SSD then I will probably clean install and update everything.)

I just updated all windows updates on mine then installed Starcraft 2 and haven't looked back over the past week.lol it appears Alienware did a great job with there initial install on it so i was content with factory settings.

Inspect it...no misaligned parts no missing screws etc, etc.

Turn it on, update Windows and drivers if there are any new one's avaiable.

Install all your stuff and done.

Uninstall Norton/Symantec AV and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

    Inspect for damage/defects.
Make backup USB or DVDs of factory image.
    Update Windows/drivers.

Then, use it alot to try and identify any problems.

First thing I did with my M15x R2 was check it for any defects, make sure it works fine, charger works, no broken pieces, etc

Then I formatted it and installed the latest drivers, I never bothered with backing up my system (due to the Alien FX bug that fries your motherboard)
