Hi guys,
I turned off my laptop and a few seconds later turned it back on and the display is now messed up.

It's affecting the bottom 3/4 and it gets worse from left to right.
It's affecting the BIOS screen so looks like a hardware problem. The problem goes away then comes back.
Monitor or video card? Power?
Thanks.

If it is also afflicting the BIOS screen then it looks like a hardware problem. The easiest way to check if it is the video card would be connecting it to an external display.
I'm bending more towards an LCD issue. -
looks like LVDS cable issue to me

Thanks for the advice. I plugged it into my TV via HDMI and duplicated the screen. The picture on my TV was fine. I guess that means it’s a screen problem.
Thanks for the tip. Can you give me any more information? Is this easy to fix? -
well yeah it is not that much hard to fix it if it is surely an LVDS cable issue..all you have to do is take your lcd apart and remove the cable from the back of your LCD panel and from the motherboard connector and replace it in the same way like your removed the old one

Was just looking to buy one of these & stumbled across this:

My screen is 3D so I’m thinking I should buy an eDP cable instead of LVDS. Does that sound right?
Thanks again. -

Thanks guys.
I was going to try replacing the cable but while searching for one I stumbled across this cheap monitor. Replaced it and it’s good as new.
