What's a typical wait for a M17x?

Hello all, soon to be M17x owner here...

Mine's been "in production" for a week now. What wait times have others experienced?

Probably have it sometime next week. I got my machine in about 9 days.

 

8 days from order to receipt (ordered on a monday and received the next week on tuesday)

 

I placed my order on 10/26... recieved all the accesories I bought extra... no laptop yet. I've been hearing about others getting their laptops in about a week or so. I was really hoping mine would be here tomorrow or early Sat at the lastest... but unless it's overnighted - UPS won't deliever on Satudays.

So since the 26th... 9 days so far, 7 of them business days.

I started a thread on this within the last week as well... pretty much same responses. Good luck! I waited over 2mo for my m15x when hey first came out!

I've been 8 days "In Production" so far. The delay and all the issues I read about here have really made me second guess this thing. I hope it turns out alright.

 

I got mine today.... that was/is the 8th working business day. You'll get it! ;P

I wonder if they penalize people who get company discounts by making us wait longer? Others seem to have a much speedier experience than I have so far. I'm wondering now if this thing will ship even next week.

 

You'll get it. From a guy that has had more issues than I can shake a stick at with Dell... (not sure exactly what that means... the whole shaking my stick thing?) ...but you will get it. I'd be more worried about it arriving and not setup the way you wanted it or missing upgrades or something like that. For instance, I just spent two days setting up my PC just the way I wanted it to find out that I purchased a Raid 0 setup and they didn't set it up. I have seen several others with this same problem. If you call them, they will walk you through a total system wipe and you lose your Alienrespawn. Very very irritating.

Other than that... it's been a very nice machine so far. 20lbs doesn't seem like much to haul around until you actually start hauling it around, lol! And the power supply is HUGE! It'll be worth the wait. I bet you get it on Monday or Tuesday. If not - call them and inquire... there could be an issue with back ordered parts or something and they just haven't "gotten around" to contacting you.

 

Oh yeah I plan on spending some time checking the order when I get it. That's my biggest fear is something missing or wrong, but personally I've had good experiences with Dell in the past.

Goldenboy he aint joking...I got my m17x today, and the damn thing is SERIOUSLY heavy...I was like holy crap when I pulled it out of the box, then again I had a second video card added so I didn't remember it being that heavy, but I'd say with power brick 20lbs is about right if not less lol.

Ordered my m17x on the 4/11. 8 business days later and it's still in production. To make matters worse my estimated ship date changed to 22/11. I'm stuck on a netbook writing this!

 

Start benchmarking that netbook!!! Maybe even an overclock!

I'm in the same boat. The wait is killing me! Ordered on 4/11 and the estimated ship date is 22/11!!! Thats a Monday , which of course means waiting a weekend just for it to ship. Guess dell hates Canadians? I didn't go crazy on the build.

8GB DDR3
2x500GB in raid 0
2x ati 5870m
1200p screen

I really hope to get it by Friday! This net book well be the end of me i swear!

 

In my experience so far Dell's order tracking has been incredibly unreliable. It was not until I contacted order support I was able to get even a reasonable guess when the machine would arrive. Well, it was ordered on 10/28 and I still don't have it. I have had no way to determine reliably when it would arrive since I need to sign for it. I took a gamble had had it shipped to where I work and I lost. Fed Ex tried to deliver to my work on Saturday 11/13 and my company is of course closed. There was never any mention of 11/13 delivery date! So it's still floating around out there somewhere and will be delivered this week I hope. What a mess...I just hope this thing is worth it now and I'm so worried with all the problems I've read about here. In the past I've had pretty good experience ordering from Dell but this Alien has been a big headache so far.

 

I got mine in about 16 days.

 

Update! The beast arrived tonight!

It...is...massive.

And so far working beautifully. Just verifying everything here and working but it is a beauty. Finally the wait is over!

I'm finally viewing this forum while actually on a Alien!

 

My order was put in on 11/7/2010 and i received it on 11/15/2010. I also had next business day shipping, so that helped. They've really sped up the process...
