Hi, I was wondering, each time I do a manual full rebuild following the guides I seem to have startup issues when logging in and the process shutdown window when rebooting. I noticed that the recovery image is the full setup with registry fixes and patches. can anyone one tell me what is best the manual rebuild or recovery rebuild?

    Fresh install FTW !
Be a little more specific with the issues you have and I'll try to help you, from what I understand you'll need a little registry tweaking to speed up the shut down / login process.

Hi, sorry not more specific, i have noticed difference within the recovery build like installation of applications (any apps) is quick but on a manual build it is slower.

Also on a manual build with all latest drivers and with the CPU parking registry fix, i get split second slow downs when in windows.

When shutting down i get a windows force a shutdown of application (but does not stay onscreen long enough to see).

Logging in either is quick or slows down, regardless if it is a cold boot or reboot.

My motherboard and HD's have been replaced and is slightly better but still does not fell correct or am i hoping for to much. I have both Windows 7 ultimate and home preimum x64 editions, currently ultimate installed.

Ya know, I have to question this 'CPU Parking fix'. I have not once implemented it on any of the systems I have and have never experienced issues as a result of not having it 'enabled'. When W7 first launched, perhaps it was needed - now, I'm just not sure.

Perhaps the split second slow downs is related? Just a thought.

The 'force shutdown' screen you see is normal - as long as its just for a brief moment. I see it on all systems. FWIW, I too am running Ultimate.

I go recovery because ot saves time. Although i have image back ups for every thing with all my tweaks and such. If i did a manual rebuild it would take hours with all my tweaks and program installs

Agree with you DR I also image my setups but I personally prefer spending time redoing my tweeks and tuning for piece of mind.
And yes the force shut down prompt is normal.

Like katalin says, when you manually rebuild, you can try slightly different options and tweaks. You don't have to do it exactly the same way every time, so you can really get the system dialed-in exactly like you want it and know for sure how it got that way so you could do it again if needed.

The recovery method, assuming you mean using the same OEM-supplied disk image or identical recovery partition every time is kind of a one-trick-pony, non-customizable, approach. I suppose you could use some imaging software to make an image of your favorite tweaked rebuild, but that's a hybrid version of manual rebuild. I have not done that myself.

Can anyone provide a list of tweak, registry fixes etc for a fresh build?
