Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Depends on your GPU? Also do you have 3D vs non-3D? Makes a difference as 3D doesn't support Optimus while non-3D does.

2670 QM, 8gb ram, 580M GPU, 720 GB hdd 128gb SSD, 17.3-inch WideFHD 1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED(non 3D).

For me:
1. You can't game on battery, the 580m will only run at 2D speeds, so 3D games are unplayable.
2. Constant wifi use, around 5 hours
3. Depending on how much wifi, again I would say 4-5 hours if you don't use wifi much, I do Photoshop and Eclipse work and get around 5 hours easy.
4. A long time, like 6+ hours. I have used my laptop for 3 hours of Office and it only used 40% of the battery.
I have roughly the same specs, except only one 256GB SSD rather than 2 drives, that might eat like 30 minutes off your times since you have 2 HDDs. -
3 hours of office and 60% remaining?? ARE YOU SERIOUS?
-
A bit exaggerated there...
Idle (without WLAN, min brightness) 6h 9min @ Review Alienware M17x R3 (GTX 460M, i7-2630QM) Notebook - Notebookcheck.net Reviews
Lower specs, one SSD and optimus. -
Yes, now this was with wireless disabled, since I didn't need it, and the brightness turned down to like 1 or 2 bars, but yea. I have pretty frequent 3 hour meetings, and I used Office throughout an entire one and still had around 60% remaining, estimated over 3 hours remaining.
My only guess is that the newer i7's are more efficient. I use my laptop pretty frequently for 3 hour project meetings and have never seen it below 50% after the 3 hours. A few times I have even used it before the meeting for a few hours, and those times I came out with around 20% remaining after what I estimate must have been 5 hours of use, the first 2 of which I was actually using wireless, then 3 more working in Office. -
Ok this just made my day
Thank you guys.
but u cant even play WoW on battery? i was told u cant play high end games :/ -
In the other thread you made about gaming on the go people mentioned you could disable these power policies, so perhaps you can game on the go. I just saw that it doesn't really allow it by default and never tried to bypass the limits since I don't need to game on battery.
-
yea i just saw that aswell. Tell me one thing, since thats a software hack it wont affect the warranty right?.
-
Correct, it shouldn't void it, but to be safe just never tell Dell you did it. Heck, that applies to almost anything you do to your computer, from repasting to overclocking, just never ever tell Dell.
-
Oh, some people said that before repasting tell Dell that u did?
-
The AMD option isn't a hack, it's a genuine setting;
I'm sure it's similar for the 580M. No need to reveal any details to Dell.
-
I'm pretty sure you can play WoW on the HD3000. Not on high settings, but it will probably run quite well on low and a decent resolution.
Whats the battery life of this beast?
