Confused about which driver to use.

Should I be using latest from:

    1. Dell/Alienware

    2. Nvidia

    3. LaptopVideo2Go: NVIDIA & Laptop News

heard the laptovideo2go has the latest and best. Nvidia direct are not specifically for the AW 17. Dell/Alienware are specifically for AW17 are older and slower.

    thanks!

Hi, yes agree NV for the latest and greatest (well, latest anyway). Use the dell release version if you have any problems as that is the one they have tested with. If you ever need to call dell for warranty support they will want their driver on the system.

LV2Go's drivers are not modified and are supposed to be complete packages as released by NV, at least that is what their info page says. It's the modified .inf file they supply separately that allows things like installing the driver on an un-approved card/machine combination such as when fitting the latest GPU to an older machine.

The NV drivers are for the AW since if it was not you'd get a 'hardware not detected' error at the start of the install. NV have to put the information from Dell into the driver's config. Both companies say the same though with respect to the drivers on notebooks, 'at your own risk' and 'unsupported'. NV say see your OEM, and Dell say 'only use our driver'

We always recommend to use the DELL drivers for stability. However, some games may require you to install the latest ones from nVidia.
