    Hi!
Been using my M17xr3 for about a year now, and as with my previous R2, the fan on GPU started making somewhat metallic noise. This is uncomfortable enough to not to let me sleep at night if i leave my laptop on.
Therefore, I was wondering if any fellow community member could tell me where I can get a gpu fan that is in r3 model?
I ran out of my warranty and did not extend it.

    that looks right...the 4K1mm

I will open up my laptop later tonight and check ... or you can popoff the back plastic cover and look at your fans. I've searched online and the information is very sketchy on R3 fans. The best way is to look at the fan to confirm model numbers

I've also read that Dell won't sell you the fan. You can always call and beg i suppose. Maybe it will fall on sympathetic ears

UPDATE: CONFIRMED, I took the backplate off and looked at my GPU fan. The 4K1MM is 100% the oem fan for the m17x R3 GPU...the one that you listed above:

    Alienware M17x R3 GPU FAN
