The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Been a few weeks (months?) since I've seen ANY posts from our dedi reps here on NBR. They seemed to disappear around the time the new BGA units were announced/released. Coincidence? Did Dell do a mass lay off after Michael bought back all his stock and went private? Seems odd. This forum has pretty much become a "Alienware has gone the way of Apple time to get something else" and not defending themselves or offering any support anymore.

I saw the same as you and am making the same assumptions. Keeping them out of the 'flack', or simply not wanting direct user support outside of the internal operation?

I did see one of them post over the Christmas break but as it was a sunday (IIRC) I guessed he was on his own time?

A statement from Dell is well overdue and looks like they are not going to defend their position, you hope their machines do the talking for them but so far that's turning into a fallacy...

Looks like he's been posting frequently just not in the subforums.

I don't blame him, especially with some of the comments going around with people degrading Alienware just for the sake of expressing their disatisfaction in every thread.

There is every reason to be angry and dissatisfied about the new filth they are cranking out. This stuff is simply garbage in comparison to what they used to build.

And, yes... there is every reason for Brother Porras to keep a low profile. I would too if I were in his shoes. He is here to help, not be abused by the uncouth punks, LOL. ;)

He is definitely under-appreciated and deserves better than the nasty slop that some people sling his way.

Lol. I know. I'm just interested to see what his views are from an employee perspective with Alienware getting all this hate. NBR is a small community and probably 1/50 people who purchase notebooks ever even view these forums so it may not even be affecting their bottom line.

They are representing the company when posting in here, so anything reps say have to be in line with the company's policy. They are not allowed to post their personal opinions when using official company name including nick names. When you work for a big company, your posts are seen as if you speak for the whole company. You have to be careful with your words. Even if you think something is worse or not fair etc, you can not say this on public networks, so that the company you work for does not look bad. Even if you clearly know the reason behind some current or upcoming change, you are not always allowed to disclose it to the public. I fully understand AW reps keeping a low profile right now with all the posts about BGA parts and power supplies.

Luis is a great guy. He has helped me a dozen times. But yes, remember he's an employee. Dell is his employer. So, he's going to promote Dell no matter what, lol.

I agree with that. There's a lot of companies that let people say what they want, without fear of their jobs, within reason. Simply stating something like "I don't agree with the current BGA-only systems" would be within reason.
