Get the M17x R2. it has better CPU, GPU and HDD.

I must say the 900p screen is awful though, really awful. The R2 is still better, just use an external display.

I'd also take the second one. That's a tiny bump in price for a big bump in what you're getting.

Is the 1440x900 really that bad? because I am coming from a asus g72 which had a 1600x900 LED and it was good for me. I also checked out my brothers CCFL 1440x900 lcd from his gateway 7805u it wasnt really that bad for me.

i also saw a m17x r2 with a i5 2.53ghz is it going to be a huge difference from the i7 1.73ghz? because arent some games dont really take advantage of quad cores yet?

For gaming the i5 will perform about the same as the i7 quad.

The 900p CCFL is a nightmare. I had the 900p CCFL on my R2 for a few weeks as the 1200p RGB led was no longer available on new systems when I bought my R2. The 900P screen was backbleeding so badly + uneven lighting. I had Dell to replace it with a RGB led as I paid 6.5k $ for my R2 due to the blown up prices of Dell/AW here in Europe (Dell/AW cost double the US price here in EU). Hence I would expect a perfect M17x.

Proof: http://www.dell.com/se/p/alienware-laptops?~ck=anav convert to USD by dividing the Swedish kr with 6.2. Base price is insane and upgrade prices are horiffic. The 4 years standard warranty itself is more than 1k USD

You could also get ram and blu ray seperately, they're also cheaper that way instead of getting it via dell.

OK. Well I got this and I will just be upgrading the processor and probably get a 2nd 5870 for crossfire later on but the HD will be going and will be replaced with 1 SSD for booting up win7 and a 500GB 7200rpm for data and etc.

Is the price reasonable for the specs I got?
