    Hail Aliens

I am looking at replacing my back pack, and have narrowed my choices to either a Mobile Edge Premium Backpack or the Orion Backpack.

Please vote on the poll which you prefer, I'm left a 3rd Option for other, leave a post with the info.

I have the orion now, but it is wearing out.

Looking forward to your input on this one.

    Cheers

    Dave

I am not too concerned about the price, but I do want quality and comfort, I lug my m17x all over the world with me with my Job as a Tech.

I am considering the Timbuk2 Superbad to house my baby when it arrives. The backpack should be easily big enough for the laptop plus several other bits. Price from the manufacturer is $US60 + shipping.

I work for Mobile Edge and will say that both of your choices are perfect for the Alienware M17x. That is a great computer by the way.

Mobile Edge is the manufacturer for Alienware Laptop Cases, and I can assure you is made with the highest quality on the market. The Alienware Orion Backpack is a great choice as it offers not only laptop protection, but is also ScanFast. That means when passing through airport security checkpoints, you no longer need to remove your computer from the bag. Simply unzip it in half and lay it on the X-Ray belt. This is a huge times saver when traveling, plus that bag simply looks cool and has tons of padding.

The Mobile Edge Premium Backpack is our top of the line Backpack. I own this one myself and have used it for years. It is by far the most durable backpack I have ever owned. I've traveled with it and the padding on the back panel and shoulder straps make it easy to carry for prolonged periods of time. The padding is ventilated so it helps reduce perspiration. I could carry my large 17" Dell laptop, all the accessories I needed, plus a day's worth of clothing and extra pair of shoes.

Recommendation, if you travel a lot, get the Alienware Orion. If you travel every so often, get the Premium Backpack.

So and so about the highest quality, as I managed to break a messenger bag in less then 2 months (the edges wore out and the material thinned and broke)andthe backpack doesn't look like it's gonna make another 2 months (same issue, the material in the corners is thinning - due to weight i guess)

I second that, Slappa's M.A.S.K. backpack is a win for me. The M17x fits smoothly inside the backpack's "sleeve" compartment and you still have plenty of room for power cord, headsets, mouse books etc! its def worth considering!

alexnvidia - There are times where a bag may fray from wear and tear. However, all Mobile Edge laptop cases including Alienware cases come with a Lifetime Warranty. If there is ever a problem we replace it at no expense to the customer.

myxcon - Did you get the bag replaced? If not, send it to me and I will have it replaced right away. My e-mail address is [email protected].

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for posting.

You dont know just how much more reassuring purchasing a product is just because of online post by companies such are yours.

I have been VERY happy with my alienware Orion, will defiantly be purchasing a bag from your company again (if only because of support, service and warranty!).

Also, there is a large thread on the alienware section about the orion, and there is nothing but good things about it (aside from minor issues). So any1 looking to buy this bag make sure to read that :)

That is very kind of you to offer to to replace it but unfortunatelly it already cost me 3 times it's selling price to have it shipped to Romania (that's where I currently am).

Well I ended up getting the mobile edge backpack.

After contacting Dell about the Orion Backback I had with the wear on the bottom, they told me it was not covered under the lifetime warranty.

Will do a mini review of the new pack pack shortly

    Thanks to everyones input

    Cheers

I just recieved my Alienware Orion Backpack from Dell, as a supplement to my Solo messenger bag and I have to say that it is nice to have both options. The Orion has plenty of compartments (3) and deep enough for most of my materials. I question the durability though as some have posted that theirs have worn after a short period of use. I do travel quite a bit so this is a concern however Molivolo stated that both Mobile Edge and Dell/Alienware cases have a lifetime warranty so hopefully this will undoubtedly serve well for my uses. I read somewhere that some that purchased the orion backpack from Dell didn't have a third compartment? I will confirm that they do (now) as I have purchased mine from Dell. The third compartment is a zipper lined mesh compartment that will house small books and or magazines but not too much more than that. I love it although I have only had it for a couple days, we will see if it stands up to the test of times :)

If this is true then I will have to get in on the action as I have just purchased one for my M17X. Is there a way to register my Alienware Orion Backpack or do I have to wait till I notice normal wear and tear or (fingers crossed) something tears or breaks? Would you mind If I jot down your email for my own records that way I can contact you if something does happen? Thanks for posting on here as a representative of Mobile Edge and offering your assistance for warranty purposes and for such a kool backpack. I just may soon purchase the Orion Messenger Bag :)
