Can someone with an Alienware m17x r3 please post the drivers they have for their systems? For some reason, after a week or two after owning my alienware laptop, steam decides not to run any games for me. I just wanna make sure my drivers are correct and are not preventing the games from running..

Currently, I am running 267.64 for my NVIDIA card, and when I try starting TF2 or Portal, i just get a message saying "Preparing to launch Team Fortress 2...." and the message goes away, without ever starting the game. No black screen or anything.

My specs are: i7-2630qm and 460m + 3D. I don't think anything else matters, but if it does, just ask and i'll post.

edit: just say theres a new driver out called 275.33, and I downloaded that, but it won't let me install it because it says it could not find compatible graphic hardware... http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-275.33-whql-driver.html this page says that it will install on a 460m, so im confused... why isnt this working?

I personally use the 267.64 one from the dell site, It works with steam, I play MW2, Civilization V.

My R3 is almost the same config as yours but no 3D.

After playing around a little bit, I finally managed to do a clean install of 275.33 using darcoder's modded files.

However, I still can't run Portal or Team Fortress 2. I have verified game cache and defragmented (its an option when u right-click->properties). Any clue as to what may be the problem? Are there any drivers I should check to see if they are up to date or what?

the only time that i had problem running steam games is when there is an update that for some reason is stuck.. Closing and opening steam unlock the download sometimes. I think that your problem could be more steam related than a driver issue

I'm running i7-2720 with 460m (3D) and 267.64 driver. No Steam problems here, yet. (Dead Rising 2, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Killing Floor, Nation Red)

Since you suggested Steam was the issue, and not the drivers, I went to their support page and followed their troubleshooting instructions. Since step 1 and 2 were already checked (make sure windows and steam are up to date, and so are the drivers), I went on to step 3, where I went through msconfig to disable any extra unnecessary services. After doings so, I restarted my computer, and even though steam games still would not properly execute, I noticed my alientouch feature wasn't working (i use the side of the touchpad to scroll down). I opened up command center, and clicked on AlienTouch, and got the following error:

To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.

To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].
After googling my problem, I redownloaded the command center from dell's website, and uninstalled and reinstalled the command center. After restarting, I got a different error when I opened up AlienTouch though CC:

How am i supposed to fix this error? I really need to fix this because i use the alientouch sidescrolling feature a lot.

Also, its not just Source Engine games that do not work on my steam account. I downloaded a free-to-play mmorpg: spiral knights, and that would not launch even after the launching message. I will be launching yet another ticket to steam, but if any one of you users here can help me, that would be fantastic!
