The 680M is much better, performance wise.

What is the price difference between those two laptops?

680m is quite a faster card though.

Yeah 680M crushes the 765M, if you are looking for gaming performance stick with the 680M.

    Nice price too. :)

I got mine for 900 euro, wish it had a 680M, some of my games favor NVIDIA more.

Thought this was a choice of computer, not GPU only?

What other specs does the two have to compare? Shouldnt R5 be better than R4 as a general???
Remember GPU is upgradeable and you will get cash for the card in the computer making the upgrade a bit more affordable when you find the current GPU is to slow. (of course it could already be to slow for what i know)

    Whats your use for it?

It might even be when the faster GPU's are more affordable in a years time. (faster than 680)
Newer system will have bigger chance of beeing compatible.

Unless it is a low spec Ivy Bridge CPU, the processor in the M17xR4 will perform better than the Haswell. This is not a reflection on the new machine as a whole, just a reflection on Haswell. Many people buy an Alienware for gaming performance, so having a 680M is a big deal compared to the less powerful 765M.

    So the Haswell is slower?
    Good to know :D

    Is this due to heat?

It depends on how you look at it. They are powerful processors. They have issues from both heat and overly aggressive power management that causes throttling behavior. It seems to be worse with the more powerful Haswell processors than the cheaper ones... again, probably due to heat. Haswell runs a lot hotter than Sandy or Ivy. If you can keep it cool and jack up the CPU settings to compensate for its efforts to be more efficient, it is about the or a little bit more powerful than Ivy Bridge. In practical application it frequently gets outperformed by Sandy or Ivy, even though Haswell should be more capable.
