I just think the keys look too plain without the outline on the actual keys, it gives the keyboard a more of a 'in your face" kind of feel. The new Alienware keyboard just looks a bit too modest.... the keys themselves look the same as say: MSI, Sager, Clevo, etc. The outlines on the actual keys really set the keyboard apart from other laptops. Not only that, the alienhead power button is gone, only to be replaced by some generic power button. The only thing I like cosmetically about the new versions is the touchpad, that I have to admit looks sexy.

These new models are taking away more of the "Alienware" and putting in more "Dell". I really will not buy a new Alienware until at least they put in the iconic alienhead power button... if not my next major laptop will likely not be Alienware.

Agreed, my new alienware 17 has a modest style to it. But overall I love the design.

The new keyboard looks fine, but the old definitely looks better. Like akazeth, I like how the previous model keyboard outlines and clearly separates every single key.

i take off the button 1 by 1 from the keyboard, and then use sand paper to rub the 4 side of each button to make the black paint gone,so that light can pass through it , Took me 5 hours + to done, but i think worth it

Nice, now that I compare the stock keyboard with this mod, this sandpaper mod makes the keyboard look so much better, awesome! :D

Who cares about the keyboard, i spend 0.05% of my time looking at it.

Monitor is the issue here. You spend 99% looking at it...

Simple as that, Flingin no see RGB-LED grade monitor in new 17/18, Flingin will not buy.

Crappy Matt screen DELL....Really !!?? in a $3000 laptop ?...comon please...

I don't mind what they did with the keyboard. I like the mechanical feel and redesign. The only thing that I miss is the AlienHead power button and the media keys. I thought that was a very cool and unique feature about Alienware. I'm surprised they did away with the AlienHead power button -- that's like 'un-branding' your product. At least they brought back the "multi-color" AlienHead on the cover.
