I've now compiled the issues with my m17x. Looks like I'll need to get some work done on it. Want to know which avenue I should go through.
1: Arrived DOA, needed reinstall.
2: Raid 1 was not enabled. Drives where of different makes.
3: One drive is down to about half life on SMART Raw read error rate.
Value 100 looks like 200 is the norm. for new.
4: RGB Screen turned out to be CCFL
5: GPU temp go to 99 on memory
I'm guessing the one item that should be a clear fix is 4, I don't know what
they'll say about the rest.
Any input on how best to proceed would be appreciated.
Mike

Call up tech support, if you've just purchased it they could offer you a refund on it, or maybe even something else. Never really know.

If the deal was too good to miss out on, ask for repairs on the LCD, and the GPU.
If the service tag does say RGB LED, it should not be a issue to replace it.
If you think you can get same deal again, go for refund/replacement. -

The listing had more detail. Can someone tell me what their RGB LED Service tag shows for their LCD?

Mine saids this in my Service tag warranty.
RGB LED screen reads;
1 9PHFF 17.0" UltraSharpâ¿¢ WUXGA (1920x1200) RGBLED Display with TrueLifeâ¿¢
1 J2CY8 LCD,17WUXGA,RGB,LED,AG,SMGR2
CCFL screen reads;
1 K001R 17.0 " Beyond HD 1200p WUXGA (1920x1200) CCFL Display with TrueLife TM

I'm looking at service tag info. on the internet.
Mike -
this is for the CCFL (from my tag)
DISPLAY : 17IN WIDEUXGA 1920 X 1200 - BE -
1 MW24N Module,Liquid Crystal Display,17WUXGA,Samsung,M17X10 $196.00 is CCFL, that's what my service tag says for my current system.
-
Actually that means its CCFL. If it's RGB LED it always specifies it as such or will mention Light Emitting Diode. It looks like your R2 is one of the very early ones that had the option of 1200p ccfl. -
I kinda knew this so I asked for your specs. That is NOT RGB.
