I just ordred my M17x R3 from the outlet..im lost on the WiHD thing.. is this card the WiHD? ....Intel 6300 Wireless-N (2x2) Half Mini-Card ..or is it a seperate card all together...please forgive me if this is a dumb question.

WiHD is Wireless High-Def meaning it can stream 1080p signal to a compatible HDTV without wires. Nothing to to with the Intel Wireless

Thanks for the response..so is my card capible to do so?

No, no, your "Intel 6300 Wireless-N (2x2) Half Mini-Card" has nothing to do with WiHD. If your outlet listing mentions WiHD, they your laptop has that capability. I don't have one so I can't tell you much more.

WiHD is a separate card that most probably has to be purchased at the time you 'mod' your system. The card cost is 99$ on dell site. However, for some models this option is not selectable, you will have to call a dell rep to add this option to your order.
However, the new CPU supports WIDI. Meaning?! It is almost the same thing, only at a lower resolution (720P). You will have to purchase in both situation a separate wireless receiver which connects to your TV (unless your TV has it built in).
Hope this clears your doubts...
Take care. -
My understanding is that WiHD is far superior to WiDI due to lack of delay. Meaning you will be able to play games over WiHD because the video is instant. WiDI has a delay which is not a problem if you're watching movies etc, but if you need to interact with what you're seeing, it is not going to work well.

I'm having trouble finding a current list of WiHD compatible TVs. Can anyone link to a list? And by WiHD compatible TV, I mean one with built in WiHD receiver.

So its impossible to install thetransmitter aftermarket?
WiHD ?
