We have two Alienware M17x R4's in this household. One has Win 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 and the other is running Windows 8 Pro x64.

The Windows 8 machine seems to have trouble reconnecting to the wifi after it wakes up from sleep mode. It takes about 45-60 secs before it fully connects and we can surf. The Windows 7 machine reconnects in 2-4 secs.

Anyone else running Windows 8 on their M17x experiencing a simliar issue?

Both machines are using the Intel 2230 Wifi card and both have identical version drivers.

I've just been looking for solution to the same problem as yours. It's for Win 7, but it could work for you:

WiFi very slow to reconnect (if at all) after sleep or - Microsoft Community

"I think I've worked out why uninstalling the adapter(s) works. On reinstallation, the default settings will be restored. One of these is that "allow the computer to turn this device off to save energy" under the Power Management tab will be checked. If you then uncheck this, the problem returns. Checking it again removes the problem, no need to do another uninstall"
