There are adapters to connect the old MHF 4 antennas into the newer u.FL connectors on the WiFi cards.

I dont have a WiFi6 router, I can only confirm/deny that the WLAN card works with my existing network.

Going to likely be working 20 hours today so today is out, if I remember to gather my thoughts well enough to bring what I need ill take care of it then lol.

That's awsome ! Glad to hear everything is up and running! I have a few questions I am hoping you could help me with.

    1. Does this upgrade help with wifi reception at all? Mine seems to get worse reception then my friends new laptop.

    2. Do I need adaptors to my old antennas to the new card?

    3. What mpcie to m.2 card are you using ? I can't seem to find any mpcie to m.2 cards.

    4. Is the wifi card I attached as a picture the one your using?

Thanks for all the help you have given so far. I really appreciate it!! [IMG]

Wow cool. So the "mSATA" slot in the Alienware is actually a shared mPCIe/mSATA. Otherwise that adapter would not work.

All modern wifi cards utilize m.2 form factor these days.

My mpcie is routed via PCIe x1 I believe, which at the max should be able to handle 5Gbps. I dont think it can be used for SATA devices but someone else is welcome to try.

I am looking into a Wifi 6 router as I would like to use steam streaming which would allow me to sell off my AW13 R3 without feeling like I lost a function.

Waiting on the Archer AX50 to release and hopefully some reviews can come of it.

There are a lot of boards out there where the PCIe lanes aren't routed to the connector. So people buy a M.2 adapter and then wonder why their device does not show up. (Trying to pipe a SATA -> PCIe since NVMe use PCIe)

For example you can find a ton of SATA to M.2 adapters on Amazon. Totally useless unless your system designer happened to route PCIe via SATA connector. Or the M.2 is actually a SATA controller w NGFF connector.

The difference between them and I is I know what my ports are capable of lol, but yes I see a lot of complaints that they cant hook up 2-3 NVME drives when for one it makes little sense to do so and second even most desktops only have 1-2 NVME slots with a limited amount of lanes to it.

I do have a second mpcie slot on the backside of the motherboard but that was originally meant for wireless HD which never actually took off (formerly known as DMC) I think that is routed differently pending the type of laptop you have (USB vs potential PCIe). I use that for an internal USB port which I made a mod to use as a hub. But I will instead just use it for 1 5TB drive as its more consistent with less devices sipping power.

I get VRM throttling it seems on the high end still with my band-aid fix, I need to continue working on the heatsink first before raising the figuring out the TDP game lol

EDIT: I have plans for that coming up, already have all the needed parts for it. Just need to cut up the chassis some more to allow for my scenario

I have a question. I just got my adapter from China. Still waiting for my wifi card which will be here tommarow . How does this fit in the wifi card slot on my laptop? I was looking at it over the weekend when I was upgraded my hard drive. This adapter looks longer then they bay. Am I missing something? [IMG]

The right and left forks can be broken off.

When the card is installed in the adapter leave about 2mm of height before tightening the screw as you will need the clearance when you install the adpater to the mpcie slot, then fasten the rest of the screw on the WiFi module, in this case the AX1650

Might try this in my M18xR2 in the future. Lots of room and two slots but no Wifi 6 routers yet.

You can bend them off quite easily, no need for scissors or the like.

Well my day turned to crap. Was looking forward to installing my new wifi 6 card in my laptop today since it was suppose to be delivered today . Well this is what I got. See attached picture. So since this happened. I need to find a new card. The card I originally ordered is not longer in stock on amazon and not sure if it will be restocked. Can you recommend a different one? Or should I try to find one on ebay? [IMG]

Just return that and get the Intel variant, the ax200/ax201 iirc should be cheaper too?

I think the 201 has some enterprise kind of feature support but for most it's not needed or wanted (save for the network admin types who enjoy that sort of thing)

Otherwise it's the same wifi module, killer just rebrands the card and resale.

Ah I completely forgot that I removed the CMOS battery cage from my chassis.

Makes resetting CMOS significantly easier, and gave clearance for that adapter to be secured.
