The M17x R4 GPU fan is sufficient. The CPU fan can be replaced with this one:

They are all the same fan and they are the right dimensions to fit where the M17x R4 CPU fan is. However, the screws will not line up so they need to be removed and you need to ghetto mod them your own way to secure them to your laptop. I'm just used really strong double sided adhesive pads to secure the fan on the underside as long as they aren't exposed to the fan itself. There are many ways and the best thing about doing a fairly simple mod like this is to get your thinking on your feet about improving your system :)

Instead of screws? Would the heat affect the adhesive?

I bought the new fan via the link provided in the guide. Widezu69, is the fan noiser when not gaming? Is it at lot noisier when on full blast? I checked all the previous posts about them being more in sync with gpu fan sound wise. Nobody commented on the noise level when the fan is on low rpm...

The fan is nice and quiet when running low rpms. No louder than the GPU fan. I would say quieter tban the stock CPU fan when installed correctly.

2x P/N THPDJ 11.4 CFM - GPU fan, I can mod it to fit the CPU casing but I prefer to keep both. CPU XN0G5 10.4CFM (15 days).

    Are you selling them?

I'm interested in this fan mod but aren't there any fans available which you can screw in just like the stock fans? I'm not exactly good at doing stuff like this...

Finally got the new fan delivered from China. At the same time I got some Liquid Ultra to see if it is really that good. Fan was brand new - I do not trust used fans as I have seen way too many of them DOA. Max temperatures under full load @ 4.1/4.0/3.9Ghz do not exceed 83. Old fan and MX-4 allowed temp to go up to about 93 degrees Celsius (tested with a balanced power plan accidentally) and a bit more as far as I can remember (on high performance).

    Hi,

In regards of the fan I got the same as OP @ M17x CPU Fan Upgrade/Mod (2CFM->10.4CFM)
They are brand new, Dell part number XN0G5 from Aliexpress.com
Shipping to UK took about 2 weeks. All I did really is cut the top screw holder, which was getting in a way and then small plastic on the left hand side (the first original photo with both fans, new fan is on the right). Then I pulled the original screw from the old fan and used it for the new one. This way it stays lifted and I did not need to put anything underneath at all. I sticked the provided sticky tape onto the heatsink, so that all the air would go underneath through the radiator.

What tools did u use to cut it? Also I don't really understand the bit about the sticky tape onto the heatsink part... Could you just give a bit more detail about it? Also sent you a PM about something.

Do you think this would work on a m17x r2?

Yeah, Im wondering if theres something in the high 20's CFM rated. cause 11 is not very high at all, thats like Noctua rated pressure (albeit with much more noise)

11 is better than 1 CFM in the current AW17s that's for sure!
