Hi everyone,
I just scored a deal on getting a new Alienware M17 (brand new, updated for 2013...not sure if this is actually called the "R5" or not?)
I currently own an M17x R3 with 16gb of RAM. My new one has only 8gb of RAM so I'm not sure if the ram from my R3 is compatible with the new M17 R5's?
Any help would be appreciated.
Here's some info from my sys config page from my R3, if that helps.
Processor, I7-2760QM, 2.4, SNB, 4C, D2, P
MODULE..., DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE..., 4GB, 2X2G, 1600MHZ, DDR3
Dual In-Line Memory Module, 2GB, 1600MHZ, 256X64, 8K, 204
Thanks...

Pretty sure the ram from the new 17 is low voltage RAM because of haswell so its not compatible. Don't quote me on that though as I haven't really researched it, just info I remember off the top of my head.

It won't work for sure. Ram installed in new AW 17 is DDRL (low voltage).

It won't work, the new AW 17 needs DDR3L. The m17x R3 has regular DDR 3 memory.
Will RAM from M17x R3 fit in the new "R5"?
