Newegg.com - Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR240GB 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
And will I need any special adapters?
And, btw, what do you guys think of Mushkin or this particular drive? It was the best price/GB option on Newegg right now in the 240 GB range.
Thanks in advance!

Looks like it will.
Will you be replacing an existing drive or adding a second drive? -

That SSD should fit fine, However, its a sand-force controller based drive and made by a company ive never heard of before. I personally think your best bet would be to try to get either a crucial M4 or a Samsung 830. The m4 is a bit more expensive, but a rock solid drive.

Mushkin made their name in extremely high performance RAM, I would probably trust their SSDs as well, you're right about the M4 though, nice drive.
-
I'm adding a second (well, third) drive.
My mSATA 60 GB got too full too fast... And now that I have tasted the crack that is SSD, I want more....
-
msata ssd can be upgraded too, crucial has msata drivers up to 256gb.
im running a 128GB msata crucial M4 with 2 normal 2.5 inch 128GB m4's in raid 0
why? because i can! -

I'm jealous!!
good choice in drives though. I'm sticking with crucial for the foreseeable future.

Sorry for hijacking your thread but I have a question. The M17x can hold 2 2.5 drives, an mSata SSD AND A Optical Drive?
-
yes! the R4 can do that, i have that setup as we speak.
-
That is so boss! But what would one need for that sort of setup? It alludes my brain currently... >.>
-
because it's possible and was fun to tear open the r4 and make it happen.
my triple raid setup is mucho rapido running vmware workstation with sql servers, smokes the iops of any given server with 24 spindles i have seen
-
I'm not much of a man for storage so I might head down your route
What kind of read/write speeds are you getting? -
Both of my chronos work great, haven't had any problems after almost a year. $210 isn't the best price though for these, I've seen the Chronos Deluxe which uses Toggle NAND for below $200. Thinking back, probably should have gone with the M4 or 830 instead.

see owners thread for screens

Running RAID 0 on SSDs seems pointless. Massive risk, not much reward.

more speed dude, some people just want maximum speed
-
Ok... so i went with the Crucial... Newegg.com - Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
I should have checked first, but that one will work fine, right? -

yup looks good to me. Nice choice!!
-
Yeah. The m4 is widely liked on these boards.
-
Awesome! Thanks for the input!
Will this SSD work in my R4?
