    Hi guys,

despite using the key on the COA (having unregistered on the old laptop) I keep getting this rubbish a few times a day, this is even after a Telephone Activation procedure.... see the attached picture -

I've mailed it to my contact in Dell Support but no reply as yet, anyone here suffered the same frustrating garbage, even with two different OEM keys, one Pro and one Home Premium I get this, usually within a few hours of installing - (and I have no intentions of using the drive which came with the new unit - don't like Win 8 and am using my previous SSD with Win 7 on), and I considered getting a retail key to stop this if there is no alternative.....

Thanks for any input you may have,

    Dave

There are ways to run an "OEM" activation, something that involves a Dell/Alienware OEM key for windows 7 (depends on the version you want) and the XRM-MS file for that version of windows. I activate it that way now and no more pesky error messages. I can't give you the total tutorial on it due to forum rules, but google around and you'll find the answer.

In the end I decided to do a complete reinstall of Win7 on a clean drive and no more messages - I should have done this from the outset and cleared out all the old crud I never use, so now everything is running as it should and I have gained a fair few GBs of drive space in the bargain!

    Regards
    Dave
