I am fairly certain this is a Windows 7 problem but I would like some verification.

I can boot my M17x fine until after the "Windows is loading screen", the one with the animated logo. Once that screen passes, the normal startup noises are heard but there is zero display. I can still login however. Once in, I can see my background and my Rainmeter application which leads me to belieive it is a Windows problem and not a display driver problem.
Luckily the mouse is still visible so I can right click and get to the "Change Resolution" window. Under the Multiple Display tab I change it "Only Display 1" and then my desktop suddenly appears.

So in short, the login screen and taskbar do not show up, while the mouse, W7 noises, and rainmeter do load. What kind of problem is this?

    Thanks much

You have your primary monitor set as an external.

Yes but why? I've never attatched an external monitor to this and I haven't fiddled with the resolution in few weeks! Why would it change all of a sudden?

It does it everytime I do a cold boot.
