    Hi Guys

First post to the forum, although I've found it very useful to date. I've got a M17x R2 - the i7 920xm with dual HDD and 4780 x2 GPU.

I've just changed the drive configuration to RAID 0 - updated the bios to A9 and installed all the required drivers as per the thread on this forum (fantastic resource - thanks for that). All is working fine, although I am noticing significant performance figures according to the WEI (I know it's pretty meaningless but this is a significant drop from before the reinstall).

    I'm currently getting the following:

    3.3 - Processor
    6.0 - RAM
    5.2 - Graphics
    6.5 - Gaming Graphics
    5.9 - HDD

Now I understand the HDD is not going to improve even though it's now a raid - I belive 5.9 is the max for non SSD. However all the other stats were in the region of 7.2 - 7.9 before the reinstall and BIOS update.

Also changed the OS from Home Premium to Ulitmate.

If anyone could give any advice on how to improve on this I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

    TJ

You said you were "noticing significant performance figures according to the WEI." did the performance as you see it actually diminish? is the computer slower than it originally was, or is WEI just saying it is? did you run a 3dmark06 or 3dmark vantage prior to the reinstall? if so, run it again and compare the scores. Even if you haven't, run it and see how it stacks up, WEI might just be funky.

Unfortunately I don't have any performance figures from before the reinstall from 3DMark - currently downloading to see what it thinks now.

Sounds like stealth mode is on. With my config, I get the following:

    7.1 - Processor
    7.5 - RAM
    7.2 - Graphics
    7.2 - Gaming Graphics
    5.9 - HDD

Download Vantage and 3D Mark 06 and run them both and post your scores here...

    Agreed Stealth mode chiefs.

Make sure you install everything, all the updates as well get everything settled on the system before you test it again with the WEI. Check stealth mode and also your power profile settings within High performance.

    Cheers. :)

Thanks for your input guys - it's not stealth mode and it's running high performance profile in windows.

Another thing to note - the fans are always on full power - even when the laptop is idle. There's no heat anywhere.

    Here are my 3dMark Scores:

    3DMark Score 3033
    SM 2.0 Score 1060
    SM 3.0 Score 1593
    CPU Score 817
    OS Windows 7
    CPU Intel Core i7-950 Processor
    CPU Speed 2105 MHz
GPU ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870

    Cheers

high performance profile in Windows and Stealth mode are two seperate things T3Jn...

You can be in High Performace AND still be in stealth mode. Do you see the button on your touch pannel that looks like a little Speedometer? Press it to disable/enable stealth mode.

Agreed....Also make sure it advises you stealth mode is deactivated. Sometimes the button press does not register

Also make sure you have the latest drivers..I had a driver which was causing my W510 scores to be way off.
