OK so I just did a clean install on my Alienware 17. I was experiencing welcome screen lockups and the occasional black screen after log in. Everything was great until I installed Alien Respawn. After the install it wanted me to restart my computer so I did. It was the very last thing I installed after all drivers and other applications. Upon restart after I loged in I got a black screen. I was able to use ctrl, alt, delete command to restart the computer after waiting 10 minutes with nothing happening. I ended up having to hold the power button down to shut the computer down because it simply wouldn't restart and was hung up on the shutting down screen. After I powered back on the system I was greeted with the safe boot options or to start windows normally. I started windows normally and it booted up and logged in just fine. Alien Respawn the finished it's installation. I restarted the computer and everything seems fine.

Does anyone know why I got that black screen? It bothers me because it's the whole reason I did the clean install in the first place yet I still experienced it. If it had to do with Alien Respawn then OK that's fine since things are working fine now but I'm afraid I'll run across it again. I've been dealing with this for almost 3 weeks now after multiple factory restores and now a clean install which might still have the problem. This is on a brand new hard drive as well so I don't see how it could be the hard drive failing. I've also thought about buying an SSD but I'm not 100% that would even solve my problem. Any advice is welcome!
