Windows 7 aero theme changes randomly

I did a bunch of searches on the m17x forum and couldn't find any people reporting these problem, though I do recall some people having a similar problem.

I was playing a game on my M17x just now, and my aero theme crashed. It changed the style and theme of start bar to the "Simple" theme. I seem to be able to fix it by switching to the default Windows 7 theme and then switching back to my "Unsaved" theme.

The game that I had running in a window also began having weird input lag, from both the dedicated keyboard on the laptop and my external Razer Lycosa. It was not receiving some key inputs, and my character was jittering around in a truly bizarre manner. Closing down the game and re-logging in fixed this issue.

How do I fix this from happening? Or more aptly... why is it doing this? Granted it's been weeks since it last happened, but it's done this twice now and it's starting to get annoying.

 

I still get it now and then. Not sure why. Some one posted a great app that restarts the Aero theme. I'll try and find it.

 

i have that issue when installing latest ati drivers over dell native.

Here's the thread, cant seem to locate the utility. Perhaps try updating the OSD.

 

Installed Alienware OSD application. At this moment installing 12.2 WHQL drivers. Will post soon if i get issues with aero theme.
