I can't get 3DMark11 or vantage to work.
I tried everything i could find on the net, reinstalling DX, installing updated SystemInfo software etc.

The error i am getting for 3DMark11 is as follows:
    screenshot3dmark11.jpg

Could not load file or assembly 'EvaDotNet.DirectX.dll' or one of its dependencies. is not a valid Win32 application. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700c1)

    anyone runs/ran into something similar?

Yes, also tried turning them on and off, tried all service packs for the frameworks, directX reinstalls. C++ reinstalls, installing 3dmark11 from futuremark, steam, all versions.
This is even a fresh win8 install to eliminate everything.

On behalf of DirectX though, i seem unable to really remove it from my system and reinstall it, it just says it's already installed and works fine (also with dxdiag etc).

Just can't seem to be able to even remotely pinpoint the problem.

Vantage shows just a 'an error occured in dll' error message.

Each time it's turned on or off a reboot is required. By any chance did you use a registry cleaner and deleted missing shared DLLs?

From the FutureMark Vantage Website: Is 3DMark Vantage compatbile with Microsoft Windows 8? - Yes, but you need an update. See our Windows 8 information page for full details: Windows 8 Benchmarks - 3DMark and PCMark compatibility

Also from the FutureMark site: Could not load file or assembly 'EvaDotNet.DirectX.dll' or one of its dependencies. is not a valid Win32 application. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700C1) - see the bottom post as that seemed to resolve the problem.

Should help out as there is a SystemInfo update for Windows 8.

Windows updates "up to date" ?? - you might possibly be missing a .NET update or something....

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 is already a part of this operating system. You do not need to install the .NET Framework 4.5 redistributable.

and also for 3.5 same thing.

Can not select to repair. Although i already uninstalled also and did a fresh new install of 4.5 and 3.5

Starting to think there is something with DirectX and it will be really, really hard to solve as it's incorporated into Windows 8 and can't uninstall it.

    - Battlefield 3 gives some Invalid license/missing dll error in Origin (after looking on the net, this seems to be a dll/dependency problem).
    - Black Ops 1 also gives a missing dll error on
    - Starcraft 2 gives a d3dx9_42.dll error
    - Both 3dmark's give dll errors.

Actually the only thing working atm are my little tools (HWinfo64, GPUTemp, Alienware OSD/AlienFX etc) and Black Ops 2 from Steam. That's about it.

Did you use the .NET Cleanup Tool?

Not for installing of course but I assumed that the installer would give a repair option, it doesn't.

Both .net should be on before updating DX. DirectX 9 requires .net 3.5 d3dx9_42.dll error

Try command prompt (admin) sfc /scannow

Fix for corrupted DX DLLs Download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 extract with 7zip http://dl.7-zip.org/7z930-x64.msi >open directx_Jun2010_redist folder>delete DXSETUP>Select all> right click 7zip extract to "*\" > open each folder and copy to desktop only DLLs (use reference C:\Windows\System32 DirectX DLLs) d3dx9_42.dll (application extension)>boot in safe mode>browse C:\Windows\System32 copy/replace all matching DLLs.

    Automatic Repair settings>advanced options>Advanced startup>Restart now>Troubleshoot>Advanced options> Automatic Repair.

Reinstall windows important updates only option.

That's great news! - sometimes one problem leads to another, but at least you got it sorted!

Good it works now, under control panel there's an option named windows 7 file recovery you can create a system image after installing all your apps; best of all it works even better than Win7.

The new version of AlienRespawn also allows you to create user defined recovery media - it will create a recovery partition for you based on your system image at time of install, meaning you can get Windows "as you like it" with apps/programs installed and have a quick method of reverting to it via recovery USB/Disc at will. The new version is available here: AlienRespawn

I'm guessing you disabled futuremark info on startup, as that gave me the same issue as you had till I turned it back on in windows 7 and it worked again. :)
