    Hello Everyone,

I just upgraded my July purchased M17xR4 to Windows 8 Pro. All seems well, except that the device manager is constantly refreshing making it impossible to scroll down or select options. I got it to stop once, by plugging in an SD card, but it has resumed flashing. I installed all of the drivers from support.dell.com for this model, and the new beta AMD Catalyst 12.11 Drivers. Any suggestions? I don't have anything USB other than the internal devices, a Microsoft ARC Keyboard and my Bluetooth connected Razer Orochi. Thanks!

UPDATE: I figured out what was causing the refreshing. For some reason when the ATI External Events Utility Service is loaded at startup, it causes the Device Manger to refresh. Disabling it using the control panel solved the issue. I am using the Beta ATI 12.11 Drivers, perhaps a bug?

UPDATE 2: Spoke too soon. Ran the computer for a little while, and the refreshing is back. The ATI Service is still not running, so it is strange how it is back. It seems to have started after starting a game. I still think it has something to do with the beta drivers....

    Hi Everyone,

Well, it's official, I discovered what is causing the Device Manager refreshing. It is the HDMI Audio drivers installed with latest Catalyst drivers. I am not sure if they are *supposed* to be installed, but I removed those drivers, and installed the Windows 7 drivers from the Dell website. The refreshing is gone, and there is NO HDMI audio device installed with these drivers. It has stayed away across several reboots now, so I think it really is solved this time :) Good luck!
