Ok, the standard dell one (dated 2011 sometime) installs fine. If I try and install other drivers, then no luck...

12.8 causes BSOD and system restore needed.
12.6 ONLY the video card driver will install and then I lose the ability to launch the CCC... even if I install old video card drivers and then just update the video card driver through device manager.

Any suggestions? Want some recent drivers working with windows 8 (enterprise).

    Cheers,

    G

Not sure about the 12.6 package, but the 12.8 states it is only compatible with 32-bit Windows 8. Here is the article: AMD Catalyst

I would recommend to NEVER USE SYSTEM RESTORE! All that does is leave the original problems and add in the previous ones...not to mention corrupt your drives all to hell. If you are using a 64-bit Windows 8 (I didn't realize the final release was out), then you might want to contact AMD to see if they are working on a release to include Windows 8 x64.

I'm an MSDN subscriber... so have Windows 8 Enterprise 64bit final :)

Thanks for the reply - Guess I'll wait until a 64bit new version of catalyst drivers is available. I managed to get 12.6 to install with just driver and CCC launches again now.

    Thanks!

When I was running windows 8 for around 4 months using the customer preview and the realise preview I found using the windows 7 drivers worked quite well when I used the windows 8 ones provided by amd they didn't work that well and weren't very stable btw I have a 6990m

You could also try using the latest driver for your card from dell I went on and checked and found that there was a new update for your card around 7 days ago Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United Kingdom]

That driver is 2011 not 2012!

    Thanks though!

Hey don't knock the older drivers. If the install correctly and are more stable than the newest ones in Windows 8, the you should give 'em a shot. Better than having a driver that doesn't work properly.

my suggestion to you...allow windows 8 to install the driver on its own..if you cant install the driver manually via device manager.Point to the driver. Windows 8 is loaded with latest drivers etc.etc..

It does quite a few surprising finishes on getting the latest drivers. Be connected to the internet when you do all this.
