I'm currently running Windows 8.1 on my Alienware M17x R4 and I can't seem to get the popup that allows me to switch graphics cards. Whenever I press Fn+F7, nothing happens. I've also attempted to pull out the AC cord as that used to cause it but nothing seems to give me the popup allowing me to switch to dedicated only.

Do you have the alienware OSD installed/running (its seperate in the startup tab in task manager). This should do the popup.

When OSD is installed that's the first thing it checks for, .NET framework is missing it will redirect you to install it.

This is weird. Let me see if i can find someone who had the same problem.

I'm fairly certain that the program wouldn't launch at all if the appropriate frameworks weren't available.

Hmm definitely a bit weird. Didn't know since I clean installed a few times and do te .net framework first, though it might of slipped through.

What bios settings you using? UEFI or legacy? BIOS version maybe?

Can confirm my one still works under windows 8.1 (i have nvidia card though).

Try the Windows 7 OSD, sometimes it works better. Or reinstall the current one.
