Hey all, I bought my M17x last December with Win7 Home Premium on it, and upgraded to Ultimate this spring, and I believe the "anytime upgrade" program by Microsoft is now over.

I'm curious though, if I ever need to wipe my system and install from the recovery DVD's, does anyone know what the process will be with Microsoft to upgrade back to Ultimate from the Home Premium from the recovery disc?

    I believe two things.
1 that the program is still in effect.
    2. you install windows and then go anytime upgrade and type in your ultimate code.

If you have the product key for win 7 ult upgrade then there is no problem you just restore to factory then click the anytime upgrade in the start menu and enter the key.

Im not sure what you mean when you say its over? As it stands now all windows 7 disc's have the full capabilities to install all versions of win 7 and the product key simply activates the features relevant to the key.

Slap me if im wrong! lol i have just used it on my M15X but with the full Ult version.

    Hope this helps

The promotion that Microsoft had was that you could purchase an upgrade key for less than the normal price. Once you have a key, you can use it at any time.

Anytime Upgrade is something that's built into Windows 7 as a feature. It allows you to enter a key for a "better" edition of Windows and unlock the additional features. For example, you could enter an Ultimate key into a Home Premium installation and get access to the Ultimate features (domain membership, BitLocker, etc).

The key you use doesn't have to be a special Anytime Upgrade key, it's just a normal Windows key. The only requirement is that it's valid (i.e. an official key from Microsoft that hasn't been widely published on hack/crack sites).
