My WEI used to be 5.9 with the hard drives being the lowest number .
I have just installed the new ATI drivers and the WEI needed re-run , now my lowest score is 4.6 with the hard drives causing it

I defragged and cleaned up the disk , checked raid was working and all seems well and ran it again and got 4.7 ....
I know its not really important but why has it dropped so much... is this a sign of a problem :(

no it's not a sign of a problem, mostly because WEI is such a poor benchmark. If you wish to see what your drives are acutally doing, use a HDD benchmark like HDtach, ATTO or CDM. my HDD score likes to varry between 7.6-7.8 often.

Not great, the read speeds seem really low. Can another raid 1 user chime in? Im in raid 0 and reads are 140 and writes about 135.
Before raid I was averaging 87 reads and 80 writes, using ATTO.

Not sure if this can affect performance, but do you have the latest Intel rapid storage driver installed?

In the bios it all looks correct and also in the raid configuration utility ( pressing Control and I ) during boot it all looks correct as well ....
Why would there be 2 options for raid as in bios and a seperate configuration utility as well ?

I just know that from personal experience, in the past when i have flashed to a newer bios, i have had to go back into bios and reset the raid configuration to raid 0 (my config)....i had some probs after biso falsh i couldnt account for and was told to check bios settings...they had to be reset to raid 0.

I would just double check to make sure yours are set to raid 1 in bios if thats your set up....

im not sure what the various settings do or how to fully interperet the readings.....since reading this thread, ive done the same on my raid 0 setup and granted i get faster speeds, they all go up across the board....

The only thing that i can see as a laman is that your reading next to 256.0 read speed is dramatically much lower than the rest of the results and that would cause me concern as to why....sorry i dont have the explanation to it but it seems odd that that reading is so low compared to the others - maybe that indicates a problem with one of your HDD's, again im not sure.

Proz, are you running RAID 1? Also, open up your resource monitor and make sure there isn't some process writing or reading the disk too much. Here's a couple of pics of my disk activity.

    disk activity 2.jpg

    disk activity.jpg

I have a RAID 0 setup so my score won't help you, but you should be able to compare activity.

I've taken the disc metrics from winsat ...
Looks like its the LongIo's thats killing my disc score ...
What does that mean or show
    LongIo's scoring 1.9 to 1.0

Seems really low compare to the other disc tests
Tried to paste up the full xml but it wont let me

I had a similar problem with my HP HDX9000. Running Vista Ultimate, my C2D T7700 went from a WEI of 5.9 to a lowly 5.2. I did chipset drivers, thermal tests, other benchmarks, I even did a zero-fill of the hard drive, and nothing fixed it. WEI is inaccurate. If your everyday performance isn't changed, I really wouldnt worry about it. Try copying some large files, like movies, from an external drive. See how fast they copy. Mine always transfers between 30 and 40MBps.

    Hi
I have just transfered a 7.29gb iso of a game and it transfered at 25-27MB/s .
Seems a bit slower than your 30-40 MB/s
