    Has anyone had this?

So far ive had issues with Window Aero which seems to have been resovled but im constantly getting random freezes. Usually, if i wait 5 mins it goes back to normal. But it seems to be happening more and more.

Anyone else getting this problem? Anyone have a solution?

He is referring to your SSD. Run HWinfo32, find the SSD under Drives, then check the firmware version.

You dont have to do anything in the bios.

Just reboot and press F12, choose to reboot from the optical drive.

Ok so i was just readin the install guide. Its says it will not work if the drive is in ACHI, which is what my drive is in. is it safe to change a drive you are using to IDE? It wont mess anything up?

There is no IDE option in the bios. Just leave it as it is, reboot and update the firmware.

The firmware update is for the SSD. Run bootracer, works a little differerent then bootimer.

Dunno what could be wrong with your R1. Could it be a bad drive?? What brand/type is it?

it's an M17x R1, with Q9000 quad core, gtx 260m, 8gb ddr3 ram (just replaced but doesn't make a difference in the freezing) not sure what kida of hard drive. how can i figure that out? i have clean installed several times, and so has dell support people. i have had motherboard replaced too, still does it. just did it a min ago, when it finally unfroze, i heard to hard drive and the disk drive turn on and start spinning.

My fastest so far is about 21 sec, those are no where near what I read about boot with these drives. Apparently boot time should be around 12-14 seconds. I've done almost all of the SSD optimization tricks and still it won't go lower...

Might be a good time to switch to SSD. Unless im wrong the only thing you havent done is replace your hard drive. Might be worth a shot.

You can check your Har drive in device manager.

    Mycomputer/system properties/ device manger.
