According to windows, my version is not genuine. I have reformatted many times and never had this issue. So I guess my windows install is bad, been getting a lot of memory crashes recently also.

Will I need to reinstall windows?

If you are re-installing from scratch using a Windows CD, you will need to phone into Microsoft to activate your OEM license key. The "OA" on the sticker means "Offline Activation".

Most if not all OEM Windows 7 keys require phone activation.

Did you format before while using this A10 bios mod?

If U have the Dell/AW Windows CD it should just activate automatically with no issues.

but considering U are having crashes etc, I would suggest a fresh format and re-install windows and your drivers.

Perhaps a Memtest should be ran first before reinstalling Windows? A faulty RAM module could be the culprit of the crashes.

No I didn't format while using the A10 Bios Mod.

I did consider a memtest when this was happening before, but it seemed to have stopped and now it has resurfaced (The crashes)

    Suggested RAM test programs?

EDIt: Maybe I should reflash back to an official bios?

MemTest86+ is the only RAM testing program that I would use. You can get a burnable ISO from memtest.org

You can either do one of the two things:

    1. Flash back to the official A10 BIOS and reinstall using the Dell DVD. SLIC will work as expected and you won't be required to activate Windows 7.

    Down side: No overclocking features.

    2. Leave the modded A10 BIOS in place and reinstall using the same DVD. Insert the OEM key found on the bottom of the notebook into the activation wizard and do an offline activation by phone. The phone system will verify your OEM key and will give you an activation code.

Down side: More work, but you get to keep your overclocking features intact.

A07 is latest. I'll go with that I guess. Flash as normal right?

Yep, pretty much. Just make sure that you have the right BIOS for the revision of the M17x that you have.

A07 is the latest for the M17x, you'll need the A10 for te M17x R2.
Make sure you flash the proper one choosing the right model in the list on the support page!

Ergh now trying to install windows again on my Crucial c300 64GB sad, I get constant errors while installing. And the MB won't pick up the SSD after a first time boot before this OS format. This has been happening since I got this SSD (The pickup errors) so I will swap out the c300 and put in the Dell 160GB HDD and then see if the SSD is the issue. If so, I will try to get another Momentus XT and then I could raid them both.

Question though, if I Raid X2 500GB Momentus XTs in Raid 0, will I only have 500GB storage space or will I have 1TB?

If the issue still goes though, will swap out the RAM too.

RAID 0 is going to add the two drives together, so 1TB. If you use RAID 1 for data redundancy, you'll only have as much capacity as the smallest drive. My Wife's old laptop just updated this morning, and now it's also saying that Windows isn't authentic. It's our backup to the backup, so I don't really care though.

Ergh, whatever drive I put into HDD Bay 0, I always get an error detailing that the drive cannot be accessed. It's letting me install now though but I haven't got to the point where it usually crashes. Fingers crossed it installs.

EDIT: Just got the install error @ 0% "Expanding Windows Files..."

The error is as follows on-screen:

" Windows installation encountered an unexpected error. Verify that the installation resources are accessible, and restart the installation."

So if it's also declining the default Dell 160GB Toshiba drive, does this spell a bad Motherboard or?

Edit 2: I removed the after market RAM and out back the OEM Dell RAM. Managed to install Win 7 finally and had no crashes as of yet. Will have to get RAM replaced though >.<

At least it's working. Cheers mates, I'll keep you posted if anything else pops up that is related.
