Yeah, I agree with you... I don't think anyone could ever get Brother @Ashtrix to even consider the idea of buying a turdbook. I think he is way too smart and works too hard for his money to go down the disposable trashbook road. Maybe something extra cheap (under $500) to use in class or pack while riding a bicycle, but nothing that is such a costly compromise.

@Mobius 1 , Yeah but you and John and other enthusiast people here at NBR are very rare who could optimize a BGA notebook to better levels, Like for eg in this vast universe our planet - Earth which can support life.

My first foray into high performance computers began with the thought of replaceable GPUs that was with the Alienware M15x without NBR, Then I had seen the NBR and TI world, came to know about the BIOS mods etc and Svl7 was very active back then I missed a lot of fun times later on (studies and was barely over 16) but now at-least I gotta see the Clevo P870DMx - P7xxDMx forums which are full of life while the Alienware land is barren and dead, rotting dying a slow death. Again yes there are compromises like QC and Metal built etc, But yea as you said we cannot get everything but It used to be with the real Alienware pre 2013 era, Not anymore unfortunately with the MSI being Semi-strapped to BGA infestation, I hope they realize it else nothing we can do but we have the Clevo & a great community.

The BGA is no go & I will always stand as a opposition to that tech , Even if Alienware paid me reverse I won't accept that. It's just not going to happen in this life. I repeat It's not about the cash investing or the performance, there's much more it's just a tip of the iceberg. I thank & respect @Mr. Fox , @Papusan and the NBR community very much for improving the NBR by exponential factors we have been through many hurdles along and cold war battle against the corporates and won, We should not rest here there's much more to come and our voice is what that matters and makes huge changes...pre - 347.88 clockblock fiasco, AW Ranger Viking EC-Fan profiles, Prema for Clevo, MSI trade program, GTX970 gimp etc.

Also this is " not limited to computers but this reflects and impacts on other crucial things in life" too, It's the nature of the thinking & understanding things. Glad to see MSI Barebones is also being receiving positive feedback despite it's lil hardware port limits, People need to realize they are being used as a catalyst to improvise the corporate mafia devouring hunger for cash when you can get a better choice for the same amount of resources you get to spend. Unfortunately This is never going to happen when people are already accepting a gimped product be it software, hardware or <Any> they want simple approach no thinking at all. Without knowing people are supporting that rubbish tech which extends deep than they even cannot comprehend & will soon realize the restricted future, but by that time things will spin out hands, As an Example - the Nvidia / Intel Monopoly & that Micro$haft's Orwellian dumpster agenda & Google is being bled with the double edged Android, which is a good thing and light of hope..

Look at that crApple they are reaping profits off the iSheeple mass and now where are we ? A Digital Genocide, a byproduct of such corps. and people falling for the crystal clear fallacy being blinded by the stupidity. Instead I chose this path of liberty, It is the fundamental element that makes us human. BGA is limited to the lowest position of this chain not for the Apex.

For the warranty part - I'm 1000% confident that a tech cannot beat us NBR crew in self analyzing and repair/optimizing computers ourselves along with the community effort, It's just an insurance that you are paying them for the replacement parts or the unit ultimately a contingency plan, that's what I think of it no more no less.

Are the warranty upgrades not off the table with replacement machines? I specifically asked about upgrading the warranty again with the replacement rep and he told me that the new one gets the rest of the original system warranty ( which I knew ) and that the warranty is only up-gradable to a max of 5 years which it will take from the first system ( not the replacement ). Basically if I bought my system in 2013 the warranty would be good until 2018 if I chose to upgrade it all the way , but if they replace the laptop in 2017 the max warranty is still only good until 2018, it can't be extended past that. That being said...the very first system I had was an M17XR4 which was replaced twice before they gave me the Alienware 17 ( my luck sucks ...or their QC does ). When I re-activated the warranty on this machine I am pretty sure the max they offered me was 5 years past this machines manufacturing date, not the M17XR4 which would have been bought in 2012 I think.
