I did a fresh reinstall of Windows 7 a couple days ago, and I installed all the drivers off the alienware cd. But there is no Wireless network driver installer on the disk, only the atheros lan driver. Does anyone have a link to the wireless network driver for the m17xr3?

You can check your invoice or shipping statement or the order confirmation email from Dell; all will itemize the major components, including the wireless card. Or go to Alienware Support ( Alienware Gaming Computers Official Support Site | Dell) and select Check Your System Configuration. There is another area where you can retrieve the Original Configuration of your computer, but I didn't see it in a quick visit, but it's there.

Ok- It said I have the DW 1501, so I will try that one! EDIT: The Dell Wireless 1501 is just a bunch of files- I can't even install it! Is that normal?

if this is for the R3 there is no setup file for it, instead you have to manually tell windows that you have the drivers for it in the dell folder and tell it to search for it there. It's weird and annoying but that's the only remedy or way to install it.

    Yeah,

    Install

1.Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled Dell_Wireless-WLAN-1501-Half_A00_R289411.exe.
2.The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to extract or
unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R289411. Write down this path so the executable (I.e.
Setup.exe) file can be found later.
    3.The Self-Extractor window appears.
    4.Click OK.
5.After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor
window is still open, close it.
6.Click the Start button and then click Run.
7.Type C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R289411 in the Open textbox and then click OK.
    8.Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

I'm not sure why Dell didn't make an installer for the drivers, but here's how I installed them when I had the DW1501:

1.) Click on the start button
2.) On the search bar on the bottom of your start menu, type in "Device Manager" (without quotes) and press Enter
3.) On the screen that pops up (Screenshot 1 below) under "Network Adapters" there will be one that has a yellow exclamation point and should be named "Network Controller"
4.) Right click on "Network Controller" and click "Update Driver Software"
5.) Click "Browse My computer for driver software"
6.) Click Browse... and find the folder the drivers are in ( Click Computer, then Local Disk (C: ) then browse to DELL\DRIVERS\R289411 and click OK (Your screen should look like screenshot 2 below)
7.) Click Next and they should install
8.) Check back in Device Manager under "Network Adapters" to see if you have the DW1501 listed in there, and if you do, the drivers have been installed and you can use wireless :D
