Just got an m17x r4, really love it. It's got an 3740qm cpu with a 7970m got. Getting really good for around 55fps on high settings for bf3 + 4.

Would love to see what the m18x r2 with the same cpu but 2 7970's in crossfire must be amazing

Had the choice of either machine. The m18 was £400 more at £1500
Might buy another and sell the m17

    Anyone else done this before

    Thanks in advance

It's not going to double your FPS, if that's what you're expecting. I think it's a good idea, though. The M18x R2 is a great machine. However, you should consider getting dual GTX 680M's instead.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply, finding an m18 r2 with dual 680m's is a nightmare.

They don't come up very often and when they do the price reflect the lack of availability out there.

    I will have a think

Thanks a lot for the reply

I did buy an M18x r1 before getting my M17x r3. I returned the 18 within a few days. It had dual 580m's. I never really got to test it out as once all the fans had kicked into full blast it was like a jet engine! Headphones for gaming was a must. Gaming was not a great deal better than the 17R3 I replaced it with. It was overheating though since it throttled all the time. I never investigated it I just sent it back and got a M17 r3-3D.

It was much quieter, and the 120hz display is better and just somehow 'crisper'.

Old model's I know but just my experience

The latest 3D trulife display on the 3D model is getting good feedback as well....

I did something similar a few months back. I purchased a pretty loaded M17x-R2 (mainly for editing with the 1200p RGB screen), but then a friend of mine bought a M18x-R2 and I had to have one. My first purchase was an R1 , but it wouldn't work with my Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle, so I bought an R2 for a great price from the Outlet and have the R1 for sale now. I should have gone straight for the M18x-R2 as I lost money on resale, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Even though there aren't many out there it would be better to get the 680m as stated above.
