Would this be at all possible?

I know this is a stupid question. I know, I know, I know.
But, I'm kinda bumming out, so here goes desperation.
Would it be AT ALL possible, AT ALL, to tear apart my m17x r4 and completely move it into an m18x case?
I assume I would need a m18x motherboard, but would all the other components be compatible? What are the differences exactly between an m17x r4 motherboard and an m18x motherboard?
If the answer is no (which I assume it is) I'll probably just start saving up for a desktop now.

All other components will be compatible :). This is a hell yes! Of course the motherboard needs to be in the m18x. But video card, cpu, wirelesscard, etc etc. Should all fit :)

Just to clarify the M17X R4 will be able to donor its parts to the M18X R2, not the M18x R1, the R2 and R4 use the same CPU chips and GPU chips so you should be all good to go with a motherboard from the M18X R2. The M18x (R1) uses the older sandybridge CPU architecture which is not compatible with ivy bridge.

You would need the right heatsinks, and daughter boards etc.

All the parts such as CPU/GPU/memory/wireless would move over.

All other poster are absolutely correct we just need specifics on what "exactly" you are trying to do.

    Good clarification, that's the main concern that I had. The revisions should be m17x R3 to m18x R1 ... or m17x R4 to m18x R2... :)
