    Hey,
I was wondering if it is possible to put the 3D LCD display from an XPS 17 in a M17X. It seems to have the same part number for the LCD panel itself. I am just not sure if there is more to it then just the panel. I ask because my mom bought a XPS 17 and I guess didnt realize she bought 3D and cares nothing about it, she just wanted a desktop replacement. So I asked if I could swap it if it was compatible and she said thats fine. So long as I dont screw her laptop up. :)
However I have a gut feeling there is more to it then just the panel.
    Any info would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it won't work. Even if the screens are the same size, then there is a problem with the connectors.

Its not just the same size they use the exact same LCD panels. The part numbers match exactly. I know that you cant just throw the same size panel in and make it work and fit, but I was hoping since it was the same exact panel that it would work with no prob.

Even if you got the monitor to work it doesn't mean that 3d would work because the Nvidia Glasses require a transponder which you would have missing.

if it is a 3D LCD from an XPS 17(with a responder built in) and has the same part number as the M17x screen and the connectors are the same. It should work Wouldn't hurt to try it out.

The IR emitter is a LED that is usually next to the webcam. The laptop needs to be designed with it.

In the XPS 17 it is built into the hinge below the screen odd placement.

I still am interested in the screen as it is 120Hz :p
