this morning I switched my M17X on and it said my "Your disk needs to be checked for consistency", a few other lines of text and "press any key to skip disk check" - this was then followed with a countdown from 10 to 1. As soon as it hit 1 (and I didnt press any key) it just stopped and did nothing?

I restarted and then same thing happened again. This is not the first time Ive seen this and the laptop has not moved an inch since I switched it off last night.

To fix I hit f12 on bootup, ran diagnostics, it did a disk check, found no errors and it continued to run as normal.

Does anyone know why this happens? Also is there any tests I should run now to make sure everything is running as it should be?

My specs are in the sig, I have the latest ATI 10.12 drivers and my hard drive is RAID 0

    thanks

I recall i suffered from this too at one point. Chkdsk would run and detect no errors.....didnt stop it from happening tho.

Maybe check that that raid config is set correctly in bios...also you could check the Intel RST icon on the taskbar, might give you some info.

The same thing happened to my M15x a week back. It occured after some graphic drivers issue. My computer would freeze right after reaching 1 second on the counter. But yesterday it magically went past the 1 sec mark and ran the diagnostics , there turned out to be no error. If you want you can disable chkdsk from running via cmd.
