Highly unlikely since their dimensions are not the same.

Was afraid of that. I heard the R2 was better for gaming unless your incredibly set on 3D but i cant Afford the 940 so i went for the Second Gen i7. I guess i can just deal. Its just the looks after all.

Yes I think you meant the R2. It is better for gaming compared to the R3 at this current stage. The R3 might bring on more powerful GPUs but who knows when that will happen.

You can usually get a 920xm (or 940xm, they're about the same really) for way cheaper than what Dell has them for. Just look on Ebay or here at the forums.

Well that wouldn't work. You see im about to go off to College. Going into Game and art design. I wanted a better laptop so i used a whole bunch of over exagerations to show that i needed an Alienware. They don't Trust Ebay and they sure wont trust just some random person. I have a $3k spending limit and 500 will go for some extra equipment like the Razer Mamba which Alienware no longer offers....*ANGER*. I don't want to take up too much money because my perents work hard for it so i figured the R3 would the the best bang for the buck i guess. Just wanted an alternate look.

The irony is I am into 3D. But, I was disappointed that the R3 uses the active shutter for generating a 3D image.

To be sure, its not Dell's fault, Sharp Electronics hasn't yet made their glasses-less 3D display in the 17" size...

I like th Idea of 3d But it might get distracting after a while lol. Or i might get bored with it so i was thinking the R2 but not really wanting to risk Ebay for it.

Yeah, I was about to say just that. For the cost of an R3, couldn't you get an R2 Crossfire from the Outlet Store and maybe get the Razer Mamba at your local Best Buy? I dunno, just trying to help.

Why would you care about the lid(which you'll see it only when the lappy is closed) if you like everything else in it?

The R2 is still over $500 more than the R3 which i was going to get. Im sure that it is Much Higher Performance but i also have alot of other things to buy Including a Drawing Tablet, Mouse, Extra Battery, ect.. ect..
